The 2018 Way Out West Fest has added Frank Ray to the festival line-up of artists that will perform on the Bud Light Stage at Southwest University Park on Saturday, October 13th. The addition comes just in time as Frank Ray's song "Drive" hits #1 on the Texas Country Regional Radio from his debut EP, Different Kind of Country. A former police officer in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Ray left the force in August 2017, to pursue music full-time, and his career has been in the fast lane ever since. "Drive" has raced-up the Texas Country Regional Chart going from 10 to 6 to 4 to #1 in the last four weeks! Described by Rolling Stone as "Easygoing contemporary country with pop-soul hooks and a dash of Southwestern spice" his talent has already been recognized by the industry with Ray opening in shows for Keith Urban, Kane Brown, Brett Eldredge, Luke Bryan, Kip Moore, LANCO, and Luke Combs. A triple-threat songwriter, singer, and guitarist, Ray wrote all the songs on his debut EP, which has spawned two top-ten hits on Texas Country Radio. The inspiration for the riveting title track "Different Kind of Country" comes from Ray's experience as a Hispanic American. The themes of his infectious songs are resonating with country fans nationwide, with his YouTube vlogs capturing his rapid rise.
